This summer the Chilmark Community Center will host the 2018 Martha's Vineyard Author Series.  

The Author Series brings to Chilmark some of the country’s leading authors for talks on the topical issues of the day and features great literature. The series of seven evening discussions will run throughout the summer on Thursday and Sunday evenings. 

On July 15 MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell will discuss his book on the 1968 Presidential election, Playing with Fire. Tickets:

On July 22, investigative journalist Seymour Hersh discusses his memoir, Reporter.  Hersh has never stopped challenging the official narratives of those in power and provides an essential reminder of the importance of a robust free press. Tickets:

On July 29Nafissa Thompson-Spires discusses her debut short story collection, Heads of the Colored People. Tickets:

On August 5Cecile Richards, former head of Planned Parenthood, discusses her book, Make Trouble, chronicling her life of advocacy for women's rights. Tickets:

On August 9, comedy writer Nell Scovell will speak about her memoir, Just the Funny Parts. Tickets:

On August 16Tayari Jones discusses her acclaimed novel, An American Marriage. Tickets:

The series concludes on August 19 with Michael Pollan speaking about his book and experience with psychedelic drugs, How to Change Your Mind. Tickets:

The Martha's Vineyard Book Festival will return to the island in the summer of 2019.
